Alex & I just arrived back to Palmer Station after a month long science cruise, studying the Western Antarctic Peninsula (WAP). Hence, the 4-week break in my blog postings. While we were away Alex was able to update his science blog periodically with help from the web guy back at Rutgers. He posted about the glider deployment and recovery, the discovery of a breeding penguin colony on Charcot Island (an island connected to the Wilkins Ice Shelf), Ocean Station Obama (named in honor of our new President Obama), and just a general overview of what we were doing out there. You can check it out here.

I’ll be working on my own posts in the meantime and will hopefully have some text and photos up later in the day.

Oh good, I can’t wait to hear more from you. I have been checking each week and wondered why you hadn’t posted anything recently.
How much longer will you be there? When do you return to USA? Did you get to see the inauguration down there?

I only looked a February but a great overview of your time in antsartica. Rick works in our office so he has kept us aprised of his escapades but this really summed up much of the work that is going on down there. Keep the info comming.
