Alex & I realize it has been ages since we posted anything to our blog. We apologize to any of you who actually care. The past few months have been packed with activites in and out of the city as we prepare to wrap up our time here in the city. Here are a few of the highlights from recent months.

Kentuckey Derby

My childhood friend Sarah planned a very cool bachelorette party at the Kentucky Derby this year. I knew nothing about horses or betting but found it to be quite fun once you get the hang of it. Our first day there were floppy hats and dresses for all, as we were sitting in the Grandstand. Excellent people watching with all the different hats.

Tradition calls for mint juleps and we were happy to comply.

Despite the torrential downpoar we all had a blast sipping on mint juleps and placing bets on the lady horses. This photo was taken before we were forced to hide out inside to escape the rain. The following day, for the actual kentucky derby, we were in the infield and scored some beautiful weather.

Way more casual, far more drunk people to be entertained by and limited viewing of the races but that worked just fine for us. We had a great time.

Sarah & Scotts Wedding – San Francisco, Ca

A few weeks following the derby we were off to California for the wedding. A little background for those of you who don’t know Sarah. Sarah J and I have known eachother since 2nd grade when she moved to Ca from Oklahoma. She walked up to me in her jean jacket and I thought she was the coolest girl ever. So seeing Sarah get married is kind of like watching my sister get married, the tears were definately flowing.

the "official" church wedding

Sarah & Scott had 2 weddings, the first at Scott’s church a small low key event followed by dinner at a local pizza joint where Scott worked in high school. The big wedding was at the Presidio in San Francisco at a lovely little chapel followed by a reception at the film center. Sarah & Scott definately know how to throw a fantastic party, great band, great food, and excellent company.

Sarah was a gorgeous bride and she and Scott could not have looked happier. As I am terrible at keeping in touch with people from home, Sarah’s wedding was kind of like a high school reuion for me. It was great seeing everyone and catching up on past years. Alex also got to see an old friend. Scott Devore & Alex were on the triathalon team at UCSB together and he also happens to be a close friend of the Jorski’s.

We were able coordinate our trip with a visit with Bryan and Jane and stayed with them in their new home in Palo Alto. It is a beautiful home, perfect for the happy couple.

More updates to come, we promise…….

Loved your blog – the trip west with the coverage of Sarah’s wedding as a plus.
Will be anxious to follow the blog – Elizabeth, Alex and the penguins.
For the record, it was 1st grade. We’ll always remember the first day of school and meeting her new best friend. Many wonderful memories.
    Stay safe, Brett
